We love Cirque du Soleil shows. Whether in Montreal or Las Vegas, we’ve seen five of them. Each time, the pleasure is immense. During our recent stay in Las Vegas, we attended the “Mystère” show.
Find out all you need to know before booking your tickets, our review and some photos.
What is Mystère and Cirque du Soleil?
Cirque du Soleil is a world-renowned Quebec-based entertainment company. Founded by Guy Laliberté, it is considered the benchmark for contemporary circus. It performs in many countries, but Las Vegas remains its main home.
Mystère is the name of one of the 6 permanent shows taking place in the city.
What do we see during the Mystère show?
Cirque du Soleil’s shows are lively, dynamic and modern. Don’t expect the old circus tent with a red-nosed clown and two modest acts. This is a show worthy of Las Vegas.
In all the Cirque du Soleil shows we have seen, you will find
- Acrobatics
- Breathtaking scenery
- Some scenes were hosted by comedians
- Singing and percussion.
As for Mystère, without revealing all the surprises, we can tell you that you’ll see :
- Acrobatics on trampolines
- Trapeze artists twenty meters above the ground
- Two female gymnasts alternating feats of agility, flexibility and balance
- Singers and a band
- Performers playing percussion on stage…
Where to see the Mystère show in Las Vegas?
Mystère is offered at the Treasure Island hotel-casino in Las Vegas. For those who know a little about the city, this hotel is just past the Mirage. Across the street is the Palazzo. From the Bellagio, a mile walk awaits you.
As Cirque du Soleil’s permanent shows feature exceptional sets that change with the acts, a room in the hotel is dedicated to this show.
Enter the casino level of the hotel and consult the signs. They will show you the way to the room (very easy to find).
What are the dates and times of Mystère?
The Mystery show runs from Friday to Tuesday. There is no show on Wednesday and Thursday.
Every day, there are two performances at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM.
Unlike other events such as concerts, the show starts on time. So make arrangements to arrive a few minutes before the show starts, and don’t underestimate the walking time in Las Vegas. Between the crowds, traffic lights and broken-down escalators, it can take up to 20 minutes to walk one kilometer…
But there’s no point in arriving too early. Doors open 30 minutes to 1 hour before the show.
How much does Mystère cost?
Prices currently start at $75. For this price, you get the seats furthest from the stage. Even if the venue offers good views from every seat, I’d advise you to opt for closer seats and try to be as central as possible.
For seats on the upper level and a little out of the way, we paid around $140 per ticket ($118 + $24 in fees/taxes).
The best places are a little more expensive, but remain under $200.
Tickets can be purchased at :
- Cirque du Soleil website
- Treasure Island Hotel website (this is the solution we chose).
- Ticket sales sites such as Ticketmaster
- Casino counters.
Do I need to book Mystère tickets in advance?
Yes !
If the ticket offices often have a few places left, I strongly recommend that you book in advance.
This allows you to choose your location independently. You get the best views for your budget. What’s more, if you book at the last minute, it’s sometimes difficult to get several places side by side.
Every time we attend a Cirque du Soleil show, the hall is either full or nearly full…
How long does Mystère last?
The Mystère show lasts around 90 minutes.
A comedian animates the pre-show fifteen minutes before the start of the show. There are no breaks during the show. The acts follow each other perfectly.
What will you remember about the Mystère show?
Take your picture! Photos without flash are accepted. Flash and video are prohibited.
For souvenirs, head to the show boutique just outside the entrance to the hall. The choice is vast: clothes, mugs, pendants, CDs, DVDs of the filmed show…
Our review of Mystère
I’m not a show critic. However, having seen 5 Cirque du Soleil shows and other Las Vegas shows, we can compare and contrast.
Mystère is our second favorite Las Vegas show. Kà, another Cirque du Soleil show presented at the MGM Grand, remains our favorite. The others (The Beatles Love and O) were less appealing.
The quality of the acts is Mystère’s greatest asset. The acrobatic acts will leave you speechless. They are sometimes dynamic and fast, sometimes slow and romantic.
The front of the stage, which rises, falls and opens up, offers a variety of backdrops.
The end of the show surprised me. Why was that? I simply didn’t feel that 90 minutes had passed. I wouldn’t have minded doubling it. When you get that feeling, it’s a good sign!
You’ll have a wonderful evening in the company of these artists. Hundreds of thousands of spectators have seen it before you, and Mystère is still a hit. It’s the best proof of the show’s quality.
As a professional blogger, I take advantage of my flexible schedule to travel a lot. I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list!
