Opinions on the Musée de la Romanité: is it a good visit?

My stay in Nîmes would not have been complete without a visit to the Arènes and the Musée de la Romanité. As the two are so close to each other, I was able to do them on the same day,

The museum’s modern architecture contrasts sharply with the ancient Roman amphitheater. I must admit that, at first, this difference surprised me, but I soon realized that this juxtaposition symbolizes the continuity between past and present, old and new. It’s a concept I found particularly interesting.

As I entered the museum, I was immediately struck by the space and light. The large windows and uncluttered structure create a welcoming, soothing atmosphere. Getting around the museum isn’t complicated, but a few extra signs wouldn’t go amiss.

The museum’s collection is impressive. It houses a multitude of objects from the Roman era, ranging from sculptures to mosaics and ceramics. I was particularly struck by the magnificent Fishing Lovers mosaic, an extremely well-preserved work that captured my attention.

I also appreciated the interactive technologies that give us a better understanding of Roman history and culture. The 3D models, for example, gave me a precise vision of what Nîmes was like in Roman times.
