You are currently viewing Hilton GVC Flamingo in Las Vegas: everything you need to know!

In love with the city, I returned to Las Vegas for the third time in my life last October. Staying for two weeks, we chose to spend more than half of our stay at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo for its convenient location and low rates.

Did we enjoy our stay? Read our review!

Hilton Grand Vacations Flamingo is not a casino hotel

After a few days at the Paris Hotel, a well-known casino hotel on the Strip, the Hilton Grand Vacations Flamingo was an attractive choice in terms of rates, location and peace and quiet.

In fact, this is a classic hotel. So there’s no casino in the lobby, no shows, no restaurants, and therefore less movement in the hotel. This means more peace and quiet.

After enjoying the city’s entertainment, you enter a quiet, uncrowded hotel and reach your room with ease. It’s a change from hotels like the Bellagio or the Venetian, where we’ve never taken an elevator alone and always take five minutes to get from the room to the open air.

The hotel is ideally located

In 2018, we made the mistake of staying at the Hilton hotel on the north side of town. We were seduced by the establishment, but we had to either walk 3 km, part of which was generous with beggars and drug addicts, or take an Uber to get to the main Las Vegas casinos.

Not so with the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo. As its name suggests, it’s attached to the Flamingo hotel. You’re less than ten minutes’ walk from the fountains of the Bellagio, the Volcano of the Mirage, the Eiffel Tower of the Paris or the gondolas of the Venetian. Just perfect!

When walking, I recommend exiting via the hotel’s rear exit, facing the Flamingo pool. Then cut through either the Flamingo’s garden or the valet entrance, and you’ll reach the Strip more quickly.

My advice: in red, the place to take an Uber. In blue, the quickest way to get to the Strip.

In fact, it’s at the valet level of the Flamingo that we used to call our Ubers. They have space to park and the app recognizes the location. It’s more convenient than the Hilton entrance, which isn’t always well geolocated by the app.

Competitive prices

Since our last stay in Las Vegas, hotel prices have skyrocketed. We were even shocked when we booked. I still remember with nostalgia very low prices I paid on my first trip to Las Vegas in 2009.

For a small suite at the Paris Hotel in October, we paid an average of €350/night.

For the small studio at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo the following days, we paid 200€/night.

And let me add an important clarification: Amélie and I preferred the Hilton to the Paris Hotel, whether for the welcome, the room or the extras.

At around €200/night, that’s still a good price… especially for this location!

The prices I indicate are not fixed. Depending on the period, the occupancy rate and many other criteria, they change. Nevertheless, I think I can safely say that all Hilton Grand Vacations hotels in Las Vegas offer great value for money.

For this reason, many families or people on a budget choose them.

The room is spacious and well equipped

The Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo has several types of accommodation:

  • 1 King-Size bedroom suite: double bed and sofa bed
  • The King-Size studio: a double bed and a sofa bed
  • The 2-bedroom suite with sofa bed.

We opted for the second solution: the 1 Bedroom King-Size Suite. We were lucky enough to arrive in a recently renovated room. The decor was modern and everything was in excellent condition.

The entrance opens onto a small corridor with a washing machine in the cupboard. Then you come to a large kitchen with an island on the right, and at the far end of the room, the living room with a TV, sofa bed and armchair.

The entrance leads to this beautifully equipped kitchen and (small) living room.

At the first door on the left as you enter the studio, you have a first space with a shower, toilet and sink. Crossing it, you come to a second space with a very large bathtub and another sink. At 1.91 m tall, I was able to get into the bath without too much bending over, with Amélie by my side. What a pleasure! The shower, on the other hand, is more standard and not very large.

The bathtub is spacious, even for a guy as big as me.By contrast, the shower is standard.

For a Las Vegas hotel room, it’s actually quite small.

Then, opening onto this space with a bath, you have a large bedroom with cupboards, desk, bedside tables, armchair and television.

The studio measures 42 square meters. It’s a smaller size than the suites tested at the Venetian and Paris, but still more than adequate.

The studio is large enough for a nice bedroom.

The big plus of a studio at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo is the food. In Las Vegas, you often have the choice between fast food or overpriced restaurants. Since the studio has an oven, hobs, microwave and large fridge, you can cook just like at home. For shopping, we went to Whole Foods in South Vegas. In twenty minutes by Uber, we were there and shopped for 8 days. Walmart supermarkets are also within easy driving distance.

The two bathrooms are very large, probably a little too large for my tastes. In fact, they’re the same size as the kitchen and living room. I would have preferred a few more meters in the living room. However, this guarantees you’ll be totally at ease to get ready and, if need be, apply your make-up before going out.

A larger living room, rather than two large bathrooms, wouldn’t have gone amiss!

The equipment is top-quality, and you won’t want for anything. Even the dishwashing liquid, sponge and detergent are replenished daily by the housekeepers.

Limited but interesting services

As mentioned above, there’s no casino at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo. But other services and entertainment are available.

First of all, there’s a small pool at the Hilton. But if you don’t have children, the best place to go is the Flamingo’s large pool. With your Hilton room card, access is free.

A common area with a pool table is next to the lobby. We didn’t take advantage of it, but we did check out the self-service DVD rental terminal. You can borrow as many DVDs as you like, free of charge. The films available were recent, and it’s very pleasant after a long day to sit back and watch a movie. It’s a nice change from American television, where you have more commercials than programs…

Other services, which we didn’t try out, include a fitness room and sauna.

Another strong point of Hilton Grand Vacations hotels is the presence of a mini-market inside the hotel. However, unlike the one further north of the city, we were disappointed by the very limited choice and, above all, the opening hours. The minimarket was more often closed than open.

Watch out for the Flamingo pool!

Before concluding our review, I’d like to give you a very important piece of information: you’re just a few meters from the Flamingo’s swimming pool on one side of the hotel. Now, around the adult pools open in Las Vegas, the noise is constant. There’s usually a DJ playing very loud music while the guests are lounging around (I don’t know how they manage with such a racket!).

In October, we could hear the music very clearly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In midsummer, the hours are much longer and the music even louder.

So if you want to relax and can’t stand the noise, I’d advise you either not to choose this hotel or to ask the lobby for a room that doesn’t overlook the pool.

Our review of the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Flamingo: a great place to stay in Las Vegas!

For us, the noise from the pool is the big drawback of this hotel. But, for some, it’s not an inconvenience because they’ll be happy to go for a quick dip in that pool and be able to party at the feet of the hotel. Besides, it’s the kind of inconvenience that gets in the way for a stay as long as ours, but not for a weekend in Las Vegas.

park hotel hilton flamingo
Despite the noise from the Flamingo’s pool, this hotel is a good destination.

Then there are the hotel’s many advantages:

  • An ideal location on the Strip
  • Affordable prices
  • A real studio with a kitchenette and washing machine
  • Useful services such as DVD rental.

What’s more, despite my very broken English, I was greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome.

Once again, I’m seduced by a Hilton Grand Vacations in Las Vegas. If I ever go back for more than a weekend, I’ll probably try to stay only at one of these establishments. They’re more convenient and quieter than casino-hotels.

For a short stay, I prefer to choose the establishment closest to my main area of interest. For example, the Mandalay Bay for a Raiders game, the New York New York for field hockey or the Venetian for a Cirque du Soleil show or poker.
