My opinion of Castle of Angers: is it a good visit?
The first thing that struck me was the majestic aura that emanates from this castle. I spotted it from the banks of the Maine, and while I didn’t think I’d ever get to visit it, I did. I’ve never looked back.
The Apocalypse Hanging is the one that made the biggest impression on me. I can tell you, it’s really something! It’s one of those works that literally sucks you in.
We find ourselves plunged into another time, deciphering the scenes of this gigantic and complex tapestry. It’s mysterious, strange, and fascinating. I must confess that I didn’t even know there was such a tapestry in the Castle of Angers, and only discovered it at the ticket office…
I also enjoyed walking along the ramparts. It’s nice to stroll at your own pace, stopping now and then to contemplate the view while trying to understand why the fortress was built in this way.
As for the duration of the visit, it’s quick. It doesn’t take long to get around the place. With Amélie, we were closer to a one-hour visit than a two-hour one. Nonetheless, given the modest price of admission, I’d say it’s still quite reasonable.
